Can be used in children and infants under 1 year of age. It is recommended that if Chemists’ Own Lactulose Liquid is given to infants and children, this should be done under medical supervision. May be mixed with fruit juice, water or milk
Lactulose 667 mg/mL
May be taken mixed with fruit juice, water or milk. Adults: The usual initial dose is 15-45 mL daily. After three days the dose may be reduced to 15-30 mL daily for maintenance. Children and inflants: (only under medical supervision): The usual doses are;
• 7-14 years: INITIALLY (3 DAYS) 15mL/MAINTENANCE 10-15mL
• 1-6 years: INITIALLY (3 DAYS) 5-10mL/MAINTENANCE 5-10mL
• Infants under 1 year: INITIALLY (3 DAYS) 5mL/MAINTENANCE 5mL.
Only give to infants under medical supervision. Prolonged use of laxatives is undesirable. If symptoms persist seek medical advice.
