Nurse Practitioner

A nurse practitioner (NP) is a nurse who has undergone additional training to qualify them as an advanced practice registered nurse. NPs can perform many of the same functions as a general practitioner (GP), like assessing patient needs, ordering and interpreting lab or diagnostic tests, diagnosing and treating an illness and prescribing medications. Some NPs even specialise in areas of medicine like pain, mental health, gerontology and sleep disorders.
