Interview with Phytality

You may have seen that Phytality has been gracing our store shelves for a few weeks now, so we thought it would be a perfect time to get to know the founder of Phytality, Mark Pages a little bit better and ask him all of our burning questions about Phytality.

1.What inspired you to create Phytality?

Phytality came about as a result of my search for a plant-based alternative to fish oil and long chain omega-3s. When I adopted a vegetarian diet many years ago, I found that there were no products on the market offering a plant-based solution to this key nutrient. This lead me on a journey of discovery where I found that the original and pure source of these nutrients is not fish at all, but the plants that the fish eat – marine microalgae!

2.How is ULTANA Phytoplankton produced?

The microalgae strains in ULTANA Phytoplankton are grown in a controlled environment called a photobioreactor. Essentially this is a high-tech greenhouse where we can control all the inputs to ensure the final product is of high purity. It’s also a far more sustainable alternative than looking to our oceans to supply us with these nutrients, which is more important than ever with the increasing pressures on our oceans, from fishing and pollution. Sustainability is a huge part of our story and our mission.

3.What are the benefits of taking ULTANA Phytoplankton?

There’s so much to talk about based on ULTANA’s broad suite of nutrients. The omega-3 fatty acids (EPA & DHA) are anti-inflammatory and offer benefits for heart and brain health, while the vitamins, minerals and beta glucans help support the body’s immune system. Micronutrients in ULTANA help increase energy and aid in recovery from exercise. ULTANA also contains antioxidants such as lutein and zeaxanthin which are important for eye health and help protect the macular region of the eye.

4. What is the best way to use ULTANA Phytoplankton?

I always suggest taking it first thing in the morning for a nutrient boost to start your day. It’s great in a glass of water with a squeeze of lime, or you can also add to your favourite smoothie to supercharge the nutrients! We recommend starting with just 1 gram/day (approx. 1 tsp) which delivers (believe it or not) 1 Trillion microscopic plant cells into your body.

5.What is your favourite recipe that incorporates ULTANA Phytoplankton?

At the moment I’m really enjoying our green smoothie with papaya recipe, which is nice and creamy.

Ingredients:

  •  1 fresh banana
  • ½ papaya
  • 1 loose cup spinach
  • 1 tsp maca powder
  • 1 cup plant milk
  • 1 tbsp hemp protein
  • 1 tsp ULTANA Phytoplankton
  • 1 squeeze lime juice
